Deans and Chairs

Shawn Woodhouse is an Assistant Professor of Higher Education Administration in the Division of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies for the College of Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. A Gus T. Ridgel Fellow, Dr. Woodhouse completed her Ph.D. at the University of Missouri-Columbia in Higher and Adult Education.

Teaching: Dr. Woodhouse teaches a variety of courses, including Legal Aspects of Higher Education, Community College, Current Issues in Community Colleges, Governance in Higher Education, History & Philosophy of Higher Education, Legal Aspects of Postsecondary Teaching, and Curriculum in Higher Education. She has received several honors, including the Donald K. Anderson Teaching Award and the Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award.

Research: Dr. Woodhouse has an interest in research that focuses on legal issues involving higher education administrators, college faculty, students and staff members. Additionally, she conducts research on contingent faculty employment in higher education. She has also conducted research on affirmative action policy and faculty employment. She is a former fellow of the University’s Public Policy Research Center.

Service: Dr. Woodhouse has extensively participated in outreach efforts to promote the higher education program and increase its visibility in the community by engaging in the advisement and recruitment of college faculty, staff and administrators from local community colleges as well as other private and public colleges and universities. She was also selected by Chancellor Touhill to serve as a member of the Faculty Grievance Panel.
